Partners Programme

The Cook Islands provides an array of activities for partners to indulge in whilst delegates are at conference sessions. Partners will be able to discover and explore the island of Rarotonga with a local host and learn about our culture, history and our Kia Orana spirit!


The activities below have been designed especially for the partners of the PITA delegates and taken into account the conference schedule and organised activities.

9.30am – 10.45am ORGANISED – MARKET DAY & EI MAKING Opportunity to buy locally made products – black pearls, craft, art and learn to make an ei katu (head garland) ORGANISED – Hosted by ‘Cook Islands Country Managers Wife’ -“A TAV Experience” Fashion Show & Buffet Lunch and an afternoon of Shopping at TAV’s – 10am-2pm NETWORK & LAGOON ACTIVITY DAY – enjoy a day on the lagoon with snorkelling, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, swimming or purely relaxing
11am – 12pm ORGANISED – Participate and experience Ura (Cook Island Dance) in a fun enviroment. See below for booking information

If you would like to venture out and experience additional tours on the island, please feel free to book any one of the following. Booking details are listed below.

Market Day – Monday 3rd April 2017 / 9.30am – 10.45am

Enjoy the day browsing and buying from local market stalls in the heart of town. Learn how to make an ‘ei katu’ (head garland) and purchase one for yourself to wear at that evening’s function. A great opportunity to buy black pearls, island products and chat to the local ‘mamas’ (ladies) who produce the many wares.

Transfers will be organised.

Ura (Dance) Class – Monday 3rd April 2017 / 11am – 12pm

Get your workout on with a fun, cardio, conditioning exercise class using Cook Islands /Polynesian dance techniques to pacific songs and drumbeats. All you need is a smiling face and dancing hips! Please bring along a pareu (sarong) and a bottle of water. It is a moderate level fitness class full or vibrant dancing and pulsating drums.

Transfers will be organised.

Lunch at Vaiana’s Bistro & Bar – Monday 3rd April / 12.30pm – 2.30pm

Following the ura fitness class, you will be whisked away to a beautiful beach bar where you can enjoy a scrumptious lunch on the sand! And if you need to cool off after working those legs and arms, feel free to dip into the lagoon for a refreshing swim. Or just relax and sip on a cocktail.

Transfers will be organised.

Backyard Tour (Art & Shopping Trail)

Discover the country’s rich craftwork history and culture, and be mesmerised by the talent of our local artists whilst you get up close and personal. Browse locally made wares, black pearls and souvenirs – a unique shopping experience as you get to meet the artists in their own backyards. Tour includes a fruit platter, coconut drink (nu) and lunch. Pick up and drop of from/to hotel.

Highland Paradise – Cultural Village Tour & Lunch

Leisurely stroll the grounds of an ancient settlement village with an entertaining guide and learn about the history, legends and practices of the tribe that once lived amongst the hills of the west coast of Rarotonga. An ‘umu’ (underground oven) feast will be prepared for you to enjoy after your exploration.

Raro Safari Tour

4WD Raro Safari tour will take you to the interior of the island to see vibrant plantations of tropical fruits and vegetables, visit historic sites and admire the view from a lookout point on the north coast. A great way to explore the island and learn about traditional bush medicines and hear stories of our ancestors. Feel free to take swimmers if you like to cool down in the lagoon at the end of the tour. Transfers and a BBQ lunch on the beach will be provided.

Ensure to wear sunblock and if you like a hat and bring a bottle of water, comfortable shoes and swimmers should you wish to go for a swim after the tour. Pick up and drop off from/to hotel.

Storytellers Eco Cycle – Discover Tour

Explore the back roads of the island on a leisurely bicycle ride whilst learning about the history and culture of the people. This tour is set at a relaxed pace, with plenty of stops to take in the magnificent mountain scenery and stopping regularly to share stories. The ride ends with a quick swim and delicious local lunch. Ensure to wear sunblock and if you like a hat and bring a bottle of water, comfortable shoes and swimmers should you wish to go for a swim after cycling. Pick up and drop off from/to hotel.  NB: Numbers are limited.
